There’s something about the camaraderie and rivalry that comes with watching a football game that is unique to the sport. Paint your chest? Absolutely. Make a spread of snacks in the shape of a football field? Obviously. It’s not always feasible to attend the game at the stadium or even to host at your place, so a well-appointed sports bar is the next best option. Whether you’re a fan of college or professional football, these are the best bars in Detroit to watch the game this weekend…

After changing owners and a massive renovation, Anchor Bar reopened this spring to rave reviews. With a wide variety of food items on the menu and game day specials, this is a must-stop for football fans.

The Detroiter Bar

The Detroiter Bar truly feels like a neighborhood sports bar making it the perfect place to watch a football game. They recently updated their menu but kept staples like their burger, which has been named one of the best in Detroit. 

Harry’s Detroit

If you like a little party on your game day, Harry’s Detroit is the place for you. Located right next to Little Caesars Arena, they’re known for their food menu and throwing a bash, regardless of the occasion. 

Nemo’s 

1384 Michigan Avenue

Nemo’s is a Corktown staple and has been since it opened in 1965. While the weather is nice, you can enjoy their tented outdoor space. They are known for their variety of burgers and have the perfect seating to watch the game.  

TAP at MGM Grand Detroit

1777 3rd Avenue

Located inside MGM Grand Detroit, TAP is a sports lover’s dream. With more than 40 TVs playing all the games and 50 different beers on tap, including local Michigan brews, you’ll truly enjoy spending game day at this bar. 

Thomas Magee’s Sporting House

1408 East Fisher Service

While typically noted as an Irish pub, Thomas Magee’s is open and ready to host fans of all sports. They have all of the football schedules listed on their website, and even though they don’t serve food, they have plenty of drink specials to compensate. 

Tommy’s Detroit Bar and Grill 

624 3rd Street

If you want the full game day experience, you have to stop at Tommy’s Detroit Bar and Grill. They serve breakfast on Sundays and are known for their famous corned beef. As an added layer of uniqueness, the building was once a stop on the Underground Railroad and a prohibition-era speakeasy.
